Sri Lanka is home to top-notch accommodation, which will ensure comfort on every stop of your journey. Standard amenities expected therein will be provided. Hearty breakfasts will also be provided on each day of the tour, at the various hotels travellers stay in. Luxurious and air-conditioned transport services will whisk guests from city to city, with ample space for luggage. It’s important, however, that each guest packs light and avoids carrying excessive belongings on this trip. Save this space for unique souvenirs to take back home!

Sri Lanka is a tropical country and is hot and humid for many parts of the year. The average temperature is between 27℃- 31℃. It’s important that guests bring plenty of sunscreen, hats, and light clothing to prevent sunburn and excessive tanning! The South-Western monsoon lasts between May and September and if guests are travelling in-between these months, intermittent showers and a slightly cooler climate can be anticipated.

Itinerary

Day 01

Ayubowan!

Allow us to greet you with all the warmth and hospitality of a traditional Sri Lankan welcome, and escort you to your hotel in Kalpitiya. You can spend the rest of the day in leisure, as the journey between the airport and hotel will take a few hours. Kalpitiya is famous for its many islands and lively fishery practice. It is a spot of serene beauty, and its exploration will only give you a taste of the seaside adventures awaiting you on your tour ahead. If you have time, some quick kitesurfing is sure to get your adrenaline pumping and provide a thrilling respite from everyday life. If you’re an experienced diver, there are many companies that will take you on a tour of the Bar Reef – a must-see for those experienced seafarers.

Day 02

On your first real day of the tour, you have the option of either relaxing by the beach or undertaking a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go dolphin watching. If you choose that latter and are travelling between the months of November and March, you’re bound to see plenty of these delightful creatures leaping across the ocean.

If you choose to stay back, there’s plenty of activities in Kalpitiya that are guaranteed to ensnare your senses. If you’re in the mood for a thrilling safari, the Wilpattu National Park is located quite close-by. Here, you can expect to experience a wildlife adventure that is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat. If, instead, you’re in the mood for some active water sports, you can opt for some canoeing or kayaking, sure to give you the best arm workout you can hope for on your holiday!

Day 03

Head out from Kalpitiya and make your way to the coastal haven that is Trincomalee. Once there, visit Marble Beach for some of nature’s finest sunbathing spots, and unwind to the soothing sounds of the sea. If you’re up for more activity, however, get your adrenaline pumping with some deep sea exploration of the Indian Ocean. There are numerous companies that offer diving gear and tours, plenty of which you can set-up with ease. You can also get a taste of the lush life, by gathering up some of your fellow travellers for an unforgettable cruise in Trincomalee. Experience uninhibited views of the mesmerising sunset on the far horizon and enjoy some bubbly to celebrate your Sri Lankan adventure. After your day out, make sure you catch plenty of rest for your second day in this city, promising its fair share of sun, sand, and sea.

Day 04

Today, experience the best of coastal attractions with the option of either whale watching or a trip to Pigeon Island. Can’t make up your mind? We can help with that.

At Pigeon’s Island, travellers can expect to undertake unforgettable snorkel adventures – swimming among the fish and the stunning, multi-species coral reefs lying in the shallow sea bed. If, instead, you’re more inclined to gaze in peace at the magnificent creatures of the deep sea, the whale watching tour is guaranteed to be an unparalleled experience. Schools of Blue Whales and smaller numbers of Sperm Whales are known to be sighted in this area, between March and November. Once you’re done with your morning activities, you can explore the historic Trincomalee city, on an optional evening tour of the area. Here, you can expect to see an interesting style of architecture hailing from the country’s colonial past, prominent religious landmarks such as the Koneswaram Temple, and perhaps even the famous Kanniya Hot Springs.

Day 05

Following the excitement of Trincomalee, make the quiet trip to Passikudah and revel in the understated beauty of the area. A popular tourist destination in recent years, the area is replete with exciting activities and attractions that beg your attention. Head to the Passikudah Bay for some stunning photography of its shallow fringing coral reef, scattered with pastel-shaded coral communities within. After this, you can discover more of the country’s eastern treasures by visiting the famous Batticaloa Lagoon, home of the singing fish. Between the months of April and September, visitors to this city are privy to the musical vibrations emitted by this magical creatures. If you have the time, a boat tour of the lagoon is bound to be an experience you won’t forget!

Day 06

Today, you head to Pottuvil, which is a breathtaking, 142 kilometer journey away. As you travel alongside the glittering strip of sea, soak up the rays and prepare for yet another day of seaside adventure. Once you reach your destination, you will head to the Pottuvil Lagoon; a site of ecological splendour. Discover a range of wildlife, including crocodiles, elephants, and water buffaloes, as they meander through this lush environment. Once you’re done with your tour, catch some wicked waves and take up some surfing to unwind from all your travel. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are other activities that can be undertaken here or in areas close-by, and should be tried out if you’ve got a more adventurous and thrill-seeking spirit.

Day 07

From the East Coast, head all the way down south to Tangalle, for more merrymaking by the beach. If you’re keen to explore the city, head to its famous fishing port or tour the area for stunning examples of Dutch architecture, lingering from the country’s colonial history. If you’re after more sun, sand, and sea, you can go beach hopping, scoping out the city’s stunning coastal treasures. If you haven’t had the chance all holiday, now maybe the time for you to try out some of those exciting water sports you missed out on before. Whether you want to go snorkeling, scuba dive to the treasures of the deep sea, or even catch some friendly waves and surf, Tangalle is an idyllic spot for a range of fun activities to soothe your weary soul.

Day 08

Today, head to the famous Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, for the sight of ‘awww’ inducing reptilian hatchlings; warming your heart faster than the sun outside. The hatchery plays home to endangered species of Sri Lankan turtles, including Leatherbacks, Green Turtles, Loggerheads, Hawksbills, and Olivia Ridley Turtles. Once you’re done snapping pictures and learning more about these precious creatures, spend your final hours lounging by the beach, and catching some sights of what is likely your final sunset in Sri Lanka. Wash this experience down with some ice-cold beer and fresh seafood; a meal worthy of Poseidon himself.
